The ancient site of Bandian Darghaz is a gateway to the history of Razavi Khorasan region in the northeast of Iran. This area, which is located two kilometers northwest of Darghaz city and next to Dronagar river, is a relic of the Sassanid era and the third and fourth centuries AD.Archeological excavations in the ancient site of Bandian began in 1373 and are still ongoing. During these excavations, valuable works such as the Sassanid palace, fire temple, temple, bathhouse, caravanserai, cemetery and ancient inscriptions have been discovered.Sassanid Bandian Palace is one of the most important works discovered in this area. This palace, which has beautiful decorations such as stucco, wall paintings and statues, is an example of royal architecture in the Sassanid era.Bandian fire temple is another important work discovered in this area. This fire temple, which was a place of Zoroastrian worship, has a large hall and several small rooms.The ancient site of Bandian has been registered as one of the most important historical monuments in Razavi Khorasan region.
