Shirangi House


Shirangi House, a gem of Qajar architecture in Gorgan

Shirangi House, which is also known as Handicrafts Museum, is a historical building related to the Qajar period, located in Gorgan city and in Sarcheshme neighborhood. This building was built in 1280 AH by the order of Haj Mohammad Taqi Khan Shirangi, one of the rich and famous merchants of Gorgan.

Architecture:

Shirangi house is a unique example of native residential architecture in Gorgan city. This building has interior, exterior, central courtyard, pond, hall, porch, cellar, etc.

Entrance: The entrance of Shirangi house is decorated with an arch and beautiful tiles.

Central courtyard: The central courtyard of Shirangi House is a pleasant and green space with a large pond in the middle.

Hall: The hall of Shirangi House is the largest space of this building, which is decorated with beautiful plasterwork and wall paintings.

Porch: Porch of Shirangi House is located on the south side of the central courtyard and has wooden and brick columns.

Cellar: The cellar of Shirangi House is located in the basement of the building and provides a cool and comfortable atmosphere for the residents in the hot seasons.

In the past, the Shirangi house was used as a residential house by the Shirangi family. But after restoration and reconstruction, this building has turned into a handicrafts museum.
