Shapur Cave

Shapur Cave, also known as Shapur I Cave, is an ancient cave located in Fars Province, Iran. This cave is located near the city of Bishapur, the capital of the Sasanians, and is known as one of the most important monuments of this historical period.Architecture:The mouth of the cave: The mouth of the Shapur cave is located at an altitude of about 800 meters above the ground and is 30 meters high and 20 meters wide.Statue of Shapur: Above the mouth of the cave, a statue of Shapur I, the second Sassanid king, is carved. This statue shows Shapur riding a horse and fighting with the enemy.Reliefs: Inside the cave, there are several reliefs that depict important events of Sasanian history.
