Shamsabad Castle (Yusuf Khan Amir Mujahid Castle): a strong fortress in the heart of ZagrosShamsabad Castle, which is also known as Yusuf Khan Amir Mujahid Castle, is a strong fortress in the heart of Zagros, which dates back to the Qajar era. This castle is located in Shams Abad village, Shahrekord city in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province, and it has been registered as one of the national monuments of Iran.To reach Shamsabad Castle, you need to move from Shahrekord to Tagank and then go to Shamsabad village through the side road. After reaching Shamsabad village, you will see the castle in the center of the village.History of the castle:Shams Abad Castle was built about 120 years ago during the Qajar era by the order of Yusuf Khan Amir Mujahid, one of the Bakhtiari Khans. This castle has witnessed important events throughout history. Among these events, we can mention the battle of Il Bakhtiari with government forces during the Qajar era.Castle architecture:Shamsabad Castle, in terms of architecture, is a unique and spectacular building. This castle is built on two floors using materials such as stone, brick and clay. Various decorations and motifs such as brickwork, tiling and plastering have been used in the construction of the castle.Different parts of the castle:Shams Abad Castle has different parts such as inner, outer, tower and barrow, stables, bathroom, etc. The interior was the residence of Yusuf Khan Amir Mujahid family. Biruni was the meeting place with guests and elders of Bakhtiari family. The tower and ramparts are used for observation and defense of the castle.Current status of the castle:Shamsabad Castle is currently in private ownership. This castle was registered as one of the national monuments of Iran in 1378 AH. Unfortunately, this castle is currently being destroyed due to lack of restoration.
