Selsal Castle: a journey deep into the history and nature of GilanSelsal Castle, also known as Salsal Castle, is a pure gem of history and nature in northern Iran. This castle, which is a relic of the Sassanid era, is located on a high hill in the village of Qala Bin in Talesh city of Gilan province. Dense and green forests embrace Selsal Castle and create an unforgettable sight.Selsal Castle has witnessed many events throughout history. From the battles with the Arabs in the early days of Islam to the battles of the Pahlavi dynasty in the modern era, this fortress has always been at the forefront of Iran's defense.Selsal Castle consists of two separate parts:External part: High and strong walls with guard towers in the corners ensured the security of the castle. The materials used in the construction of the walls include red river stone.Inner part: courtyards, halls, rooms, and warehouses are located in this part. The materials used in the construction of the interior include bricks and mortar. The ceremonial hall on the first floor of the castle was the place for official ceremonies and reception of guests. Reza Shah Pahlavi's bedroom and study room are also located on this floor.Castle attractions:Museum of Anthropology: objects and accessories related to people's life in the past are displayed in this museum. Local clothes, ornaments, dishes, agricultural tools and equipment, documents and photographs are among the objects exhibited in this museum.Natural scenery: From the top of the castle, a spectacular view of dense forests, towering mountains, and the Caspian Sea can be seen.Recreational activities: hiking, climbing, photography, and visiting the castle garden are among the activities that you can do in this place. The castle garden has an area of about 5 hectares and there are different types of trees and flowers.
