Rostam Castle


Rostam Castle (also referred to as Haozdar Fort) is a castle in the Hamun County, and is one of the attractions of Sistan and Baluchestan Province. This castle was built by the Safavid dynasty-Seljuq dynasty.

Rostam Castle is located in the Howzdar city, which is also near the remains of an ancient city with numerous buildings with brick- facade design, the gate, the watchtower, and 15 defense towers. The castle is built on a high hill, overlooking the surrounding plain. The walls of the castle are made of mudbrick and stone. The towers are square in shape and are topped with crenellated parapets. The castle has several entrances, which are all guarded by towers. The interior of the castle is divided into several courtyards and rooms. The rooms are decorated with murals and other decorative features.

Rostam Castle is a well-preserved example of medieval architecture. It is a reminder of the importance of Sistan and Baluchestan Province as a center of trade and commerce during the Middle Ages.
