Rasht Silk House

Rasht Silk House: A window to the pastThe Rasht Silk House is not just a house, but a window to the past. By stepping into this house, it is as if you are traveling back in time and stepping into the Qajar era and the booming silk trade in Gilan.Magnificent architecture:The architecture of Silk House is a unique example of traditional Iranian architecture. The inner and outer courtyards, halls, numerous rooms, porches and wooden columns, all tell the taste of Iranian architects in that era. Fine brickwork, eye-catching plasterwork and wall paintings double the beauty of this house.Reflection of culture and customs:The silk house is not only a historical monument, but also a reflection of the culture and customs of the people of Gilan in the past. The interior decorations of the house, objects and accessories on display, and even the general atmosphere of the house, all express the culture and identity of the people of this region at that time.Journey to the world of silk trade:The silk house was the center of silk trade in Rasht. In this house, Haj Mirza Ismail Hakeemi, the richest silk merchant of that time, used to buy and sell silk. Chambers for trade, silk warehouses, and offices, all indicate the prosperity of the silk trade in that era.Museum of Anthropology:A part of the Silk House is dedicated to the Museum of Anthropology. In this museum, various objects and accessories such as local clothes, ornaments, dishes, agricultural tools and equipment, documents and photographs are displayed. These objects give you a clear picture of the life of the people of Gilan in the past.
