This dome, which is located 15 kilometers from the Qom road towards Jafarieh, is one of the largest and most beautiful salt domes in Iran.History and origin:The salt dome of Qom dates back to about 60 million years ago, in the Pliocene era. At that time, this area was under the influence of the shallow Tethys Sea. With the gradual evaporation of sea water and salt deposition, the salt dome of Qom was gradually formed.Specifications and features:Dimensions: Qom salt dome is about 3 km long and 2 km wide.Height: The height of this dome is about 1200 meters above the ground.Color: Due to the presence of various minerals, the Qom salt dome has various colors such as white, brown, red and purple.Compositions: salt (halite) forms the most composition of this dome.Attractions and sights:Salt Lake: In the center of the Qom Salt Dome, there is a seasonal salt lake that fills with water during the rainy season and creates a stunning view.Caves: There are many caves on the slopes of the Qom salt dome, some of which have salt lamps.Fossils: Various fossils have been found in the salt dome of Qom, including fossils of marine animals, which show the rich history of this region.
