Mirbahaddin Bridge, a gem of Iranian architecture in ZanjanMirbahaddin Bridge, also known as the Old Bridge, is one of the historical bridges of Zanjan city, located on the Zanjanrud River. This bridge was built in the Qajar period by order of Haj Mirbahaddin, one of the benefactors of Zanjan city.Architecture and structure:Mirbahaddin Bridge has 5 spans with cross and semicircular arches.The foundations of the bridge are made with carved stones in the form of carcasses and strengthened with Saroj mortar.The body of the bridge is made of brick and in the form of an arch and has high strength.The decorations of the bridge include tiling and brickwork, and it displays slimy, geometric and khatay motifs.On both sides of the bridge, there are shelters made of bricks and decorated with tiles.Function and importance:In the past, the Mirbahaddin bridge was one of the main ways of communication between the two sides of the Zanjanrud river.This bridge has played an important role in the economic and social prosperity of Zanjan city.Mirbahaddin Bridge has been used for the passage of caravans, passengers and residents of Zanjan city.This bridge has also been used to transfer water from Zanjanrud river to fields and gardens.Mirbahaddin bridge is known as one of the symbols of Zanjan city and plays an important role in the historical identity of this city.
