Mohsenzadeh Reservoir: a gem in the heart of the desertMohsenzadeh Reservoir, known as Haji Mohsen Reservoir, is located in Birjand city, the capital of South Khorasan province. This reservoir, which is one of the oldest reservoirs in Birjand, is an outstanding example of traditional Iranian architecture in hot and dry areas.History:Qajar period: Mohsenzadeh Reservoir was built in the Qajar period by Haji Mohsen Mohsenzadeh, one of the famous merchants of Birjand.Restoration: This reservoir was renovated in 2010.Architecture:Traditional style: Mohsenzadeh Reservoir is built in traditional Iranian style. The main materials used in the construction of this reservoir are brick, plaster and lime.Different parts: Mohsenzadeh Reservoir has different parts, such as head, vestibule, corridor, dome, water tank, stairs and platform.Decorations: Very beautiful decorations can be seen on the facade and inside of the reservoir. Geometric patterns, brickwork and tiling are among these decorations.Function:Water storage: Mohsenzadeh reservoir was used to store rainwater and aqueducts in the past. The water stored in this reservoir is used for drinking and agriculture.Ventilation system: Mohsenzadeh reservoir has a very good ventilation system that keeps the water stored in it cool and pleasant.
