Maharlo lake

Maharlo lake, the pink gem of FarsMaharlu Lake, also known as Salt Lake, is located 20 kilometers southeast of Shiraz and near the city of Sarvostan. This lake, with an area of 600 square kilometers and its unique pink color, is known as one of the natural and tourist attractions of Fars province.Pink color:The pink color of Maharlo lake is due to the presence of Dunalilla salina algae. This algae grows in salt water and produces red pigments that give the lake water a pink color.Bird habitat:Due to the presence of sufficient water and food, Maharlo Lake is the habitat of all kinds of migratory and native birds, including flamingos, pelicans, herons, swans, geese and ducks. These birds add beauty and variety to the lake and watching them is attractive for tourists.Entertainment place:As a popular tourist destination, Maharlo Lake offers various recreational facilities for visitors. Boating, swimming, bird watching, photography and walking around the lake are among the activities that tourists can do in this place.Prohibited hunting area:Maharlo lake was declared as a prohibited hunting area in 1354. This has been done in order to protect the animal and plant species of this area.International Wetland:Maharlo Lake was registered as an international wetland in 2007. This was done because of the environmental importance and global value of this wetland.Threats:Unfortunately, Maharlu Lake is facing various threats such as pollution, drought and excessive water extraction. These threats can lead to the destruction of this beautiful and unique wetland.Importance of protection:Protecting Maharlo Lake as a valuable natural resource is of great importance. For this purpose, it is necessary to take measures to prevent pollution, manage water resources and increase public awareness.
