Jazmurian Lake

Jazmurian Lake is a large wetland in the Sistan and Baluchistan province of Iran. It is located on the border of Kerman province and has been severely degraded in recent years due to drought and excessive water extraction from its rivers. Jazmurian Lake is an important habitat for migratory birds in Iran and is also the main source of water for the people of the region.

Jazmurian Lake has undergone significant changes in recent years. In recent years, successive droughts have caused the lake's water level to drop sharply. In addition, the excessive extraction of water from the rivers leading to the lake has also contributed to its drying up. These factors have caused Jazmurian Lake to be in a very bad state at present.

The drying up of Jazmurian Lake has had many negative consequences for the region. This wetland is the main source of water for the people of the region and it’s drying up has caused people to face water shortages. Jazmurian Lake is also an important habitat for migratory birds in Iran and its drying up has meant that these migratory birds can no longer come to this region.

The Iranian government has taken some measures to save Jazmurian Lake, but these measures have not been enough. To save Jazmurian Lake, there needs to be a comprehensive collaboration between the government, the people, and environmental activists.

The lake is located in an endorheic basin, which means that it does not have an outlet to the sea. This makes it more vulnerable to drying up during droughts.

The lake is fed by two main rivers, the Halil Rud and the Bampur River. However, these rivers have been heavily dammed and diverted for irrigation, which has reduced the amount of water flowing into the lake.

Jazmurian Lake is a Ramsar site, which means that it is an internationally recognized wetland of importance. It is home to a variety of plant and animal species, including migratory birds, fish, and reptiles.

The drying up of Jazmurian Lake has had a negative impact on the environment and the people of the region. It has led to water shortages, soil erosion, and the loss of biodiversity.

There are a number of things that can be done to save Jazmurian Lake. These include:

Reducing water consumption in the region

Releasing more water from the Halil Rud and Bampur Rivers into the lake

Restoring natural wetlands in the region

Raising awareness of the importance of Jazmurian Lake

The Iranian government has committed to saving Jazmurian Lake, but it will need the cooperation of the people and environmental groups to succeed.
