Jame Mosque of Qom: a gem of Islamic architecture in the heart of IranJame Mosque of Qom, also known as Grand Mosque, is one of the oldest and most important mosques in Iran. This mosque is located in the center of Qom city on Azar street. The date of construction of Qom Grand Mosque is not known correctly, but some historians attribute it to the year 265 AH.Jame Mosque of Qom has been renovated many times throughout its history. The last major restoration of this mosque was done in the Safavid period.Jame Mosque of Qom has a large central courtyard and four porches on four sides of the courtyard. The south porch of the mosque is the biggest and highest porch of the mosque. In front of the south porch is the minaret of the mosque, which is known as the forty-pillared minaret.Qom Grand Mosque has beautiful architectural decorations. Tiling, mirroring and plastering are among the decorations of this mosque. There is also a museum in Qom Grand Mosque where historical and Quranic objects are kept.
