Jabaliya dome

Jabaliya dome: the secret hidden in the heart of KermanJabaliya Dome is an ancient and mysterious building in the city of Kerman, which dates back to the pre-Islamic era. This dome, which is also known as Gabri Dome and Ganjineh Jabaliya, is located in the eastern end of Kerman and near the two cemeteries of Sahib al-Zaman and Seyyed Hossein. Jabaliya Dome is the only stone building in Kerman that attracts many tourists and history lovers every year with its grandeur and mystery.Architecture:Jabaliya dome is an octagonal stone building with a dome shaped like two crescents on it. The inner diameter of this building is 18 feet and its height to the top of the dome is 25 feet. The materials used in the construction of this building are rubble stone and plaster mortar, and its decorations are very simple and limited to arches and stone tablets.History:The exact date of the construction of Jabaliya Dome is not known, but according to the type of architecture and materials used in it, it dates back to the pre-Islamic era and probably to the Sassanid period. Throughout history, different uses have been considered for this building. In Islamic periods, it has been used as a mosque and a burial place for elders. Also, during the Qajar period, the Jabaliya dome was used as a grain store.Repair and reconstruction:Jabaliya dome has been restored many times throughout history. The first major restoration of this building was done during the Safavid period. During this period, the dome and damaged parts of the building were restored. Also, in the Qajar period, new decorations were added inside the building.Stone Museum:Currently, Jabaleh Dome is used as Kerman Stone Museum. In this museum, all kinds of mineral and decorative stones from all over Kerman province are displayed. Also, there are beautiful stone sculptures and sculptures in this museum.
