Harouniye Tomb

Harouniye Tomb, a mysterious building in KhorasanHarounieh Tomb or Harounieh Dome is a historical monument located 25 kilometers northwest of Mashhad and on the western edge of the Mashhad-Tos road. This brick building, which dates back to the 8th century AH, is of great architectural and historical importance and has been registered as one of Iran's national monuments.History:The exact date of construction of the Harounieh tomb is not known, but some historians attribute it to the Ilkhani period and others to the Timurid period. The name "Harunieh" has been given to it because of its architectural similarity to the tomb of Harun al-Rashid, the Abbasid caliph.Architecture:Harounieh mausoleum is a cube-shaped and brick building consisting of a two-shell dome and earthen color. The entrance of the building is located on the south side and is decorated with a cross arch. The inside of the building is also decorated with arches and brick decorations.Importance:In terms of architecture, Harounieh Tomb is an example of Ilkhanid and Timurid period architecture. This building is also historically important due to its location near the city of Tos.Mystery:Because of its special architecture and obscure history, Harounieh Tomb has always been the subject of various speculations. Some local people attribute this building to Harun al-Rashid prison, while there is no historical document to prove this claim.
