Hamedan Grand Mosque

Hamedan Grand Mosque, also known as Atiq Mosque and Grand Mosque, is one of the oldest and largest mosques in Iran, located in Hamedan. This mosque is located on Ekbatan Street and Imam Khomeini Square and has been registered as one of the national monuments of Iran.HistoryThe exact date of the construction of Hamedan Grand Mosque is not known, but some historians attribute its original construction to the Sassanid period and others to the early Islamic period. The columned nave has 55 columns and was built in the Qajar period. The brick nave was also built in the Seljuk period.Porches: Hamadan Grand Mosque has three main porches: North Porch, South Porch and East Porch. The northern porch was built in the Qajar period and the southern and eastern porches were built in the Seljuk period.Domes: Hamadan Grand Mosque has two main domes: brick dome and tiled dome.
