Ganj Ali Khan School and Caravanserai: A Journey in History and ArchitectureGanj Ali Khan School and Caravanserai is a unique collection of two historical buildings in the city of Kerman, which was built in the Safavid era by the order of Ganj Ali Khan, the ruler of Kerman at the time. This complex, which is located in the center of Kerman city, displays a treasure of Iranian architecture and art.Ganjali Khan School:Ganj Ali Khan School, located on the eastern side of Ganj Ali Khan Square, was originally used as a religious school. This school has cells, a porch, and a beautiful dome. The tiling and moqranskari decorations of this school are among the masterpieces of Iranian art in the Safavid period.Ganj Ali Khan Caravanserai:Ganj Ali Khan Caravanserai, which is located on the northern side of Ganj Ali Khan Square, was a resting place for caravans and merchants in the past. This caravanserai has a central courtyard, cells, and tall porches. The architecture of this caravanserai is an example of Iranian caravanserai architecture in the Safavid period.User changes:Ganj Ali Khan School has had different uses in different historical periods. This school was used as a barracks during the Qajar period and as a warehouse during the Pahlavi period. Currently, this school is used as the art faculty of Bahoner University of Kerman.Ganj Ali Khan Caravanserai has also had different uses in different historical periods. This caravanserai was used as a printing house during the Qajar period and as a prison during the Pahlavi period. Currently, this caravanserai is used as a museum and a venue for various exhibitions.
