Alamut Castle

Alamut Castle: A gem in the history of IranAlamut Castle, a strong and magnificent fortress stands out on top of a high peak in the western Alamut, Qazvin province. This fortress, which dates back to the Ismaili period, has witnessed many events throughout history.History:Alamut Castle was built at the end of the 5th century AH by the order of Hasan Sabah, the Ismaili leader. Due to its special location, this fortress was used as the main seat of the Ismailis in Iran. By relying on this strong fortress, Hassan Sabah was able to expand his power and influence throughout Iran.Architecture:Alamut Castle consists of two parts, the Lower Castle and the Upper Castle, each of which has its own unique features:Lower Castle: It is located on the mountainside and includes towers, fences, gates and several water tanks. This part of the castle was the first line of defense against the invaders.Upper Castle: Known as the core of Alamut Castle, it is located on the top of the mountain and includes towers and ramparts, halls, rooms and stone pools. This part of the castle was the residence of Hasan Sabah and other Ismaili nobles.Architecture of Alamut CastleThe architecture of Alamut Castle is an example of the genius and creativity of Iranian architects. The materials used in the construction of the castle are mainly stone and brick. The use of high towers and ramparts, thick fences and strong gates had turned Alamut Castle into an impenetrable fortress.
