Sarandazbafi

Sarandazbafi art: a valuable heritage of Iranian nomadic culture

Sarandaz is one of the most beautiful and delicate Iranian handwovens, which is rooted in the rich culture of the nomads and villagers of our country. This art, combining tradition and innovation, is known as a valuable work of art and a symbol of Iranian culture and civilization.

The history and characteristics of the host

The roots of Sarandazbafi art go back to the ancient nomadic era of Iran. The nomads used thick woolen fabrics to protect their carpets and rugs from the direct heat of fire and abrasion, which became more artistic and beautiful over time. One of the unique features of Sarzad is its weave from the back. That is, the weaver weaves the desired design from the back and does not see his work until the end of weaving. This feature has given Sarzand a special and mysterious effect.

Materials and tools used in nest weaving

The raw material used in the weaving is usually wool, which is very suitable for this purpose due to its durability and warmth. The tools used in this art include knitting needles, spindles, scissors, combs and needles.
