Art of Jajim Moj: a wave of beauty and originality in Iranian handicrafts

Jajim Moj is one of the most valuable cultural heritages of Iran, which with its wavy and geometric designs, displays a manifestation of Iranian elegance and art. This hand-woven art is rooted in the ancient history and rich culture of Iran and is known as one of the symbols of the originality and creativity of Iranian women.

History and geographic distributionJajim wave weaving art has been popular in many regions of Iran, especially in nomadic and rural areas. Each region uses specific and distinctive designs and colorings in wave-woven jajims according to the weather conditions, available raw materials, and local culture.

Raw materials and production processThe main raw material for Jajim Moj weaving is wool, which is ready for weaving after washing, cleaning and spinning. In some regions, cotton thread is also used. Jajim Moj production process includes the following steps:

Preparation of wool: wool is washed, cleaned and then spun.Dyeing: The spun wool is dyed with natural or chemical dyes.Weaving: Long threads are stretched on the weaving loom.Weaving: Using a comb and a mako, transverse threads are woven on the skeins and a wavy design is created.Dewatering and drying: After finishing weaving, Jajim is washed and spread out to dry.Designs and rolesJajim's wavy designs are a symbol of the flow of life, movement and dynamism. These designs are usually inspired by nature, water and sea waves. Also, geometric and slime designs can be seen in the waves.
