Ajide Dozi; Elegant and original art from the heart of Iranian historyAjideh embroidery or cotton embroidery is one of the most beautiful and original Iranian handicrafts, which has its roots in the ancient history of this land. This art creates delicate and beautiful designs on the fabric using a needle and cotton thread. Ajideh embroidery has always been of great interest due to its unique elegance and beauty and is known as one of the valuable handicrafts of Iran.History of embroideryThe exact date of the origin of Ajide Dozi is not known, but the evidence shows that this art reaches at least the Achaemenid period. At that time, embroidered ajideh was used to decorate the lower part of archery belts so that its heavy weight would not bother the archer's shoulders. After that, numerous examples of embroidery can be seen in sculptures of the Parthian and Sassanid eras. In the Islamic period, Ajideh embroidery was relatively popular and reached its peak of prosperity in the Safavid, Afshariya, Zandiya and Qajar periods.All kinds of embroideryAjideh embroidery is done in two main ways:

  • Simple embroidery stitch: In this method, without using the middle layer, the desired design is sewn directly on the fabric.

  • Layered embroidery: In this method, a thin layer of cotton is placed between two layers of fabric and then the design is sewn on it. This method gives the designs more volume and prominence.Materials and tools used in embroidery

  • Ring: It is used to pull the fabric and sew more easily.
